The 55 meter Yasawa Princess luxury diving liveaboard built in 1984 and refitted in 2007 . She offers ample room for up to 60 guests in 33 cabins which are either  double or twin bed. BEST OF CENTRAL ATOLL

Day One (Monday)

Welcome to the Maldives Yasawa Princess will be anchored just off of Villigili, a convenient 20 minutes boat ride from Male International Airport. Our Guest Relations Officer (GRO) will greet you on arrival and assist you to the boat’s private tender for your transfer. This afternoon we will help get you checked into your cabin and complete a welcome briefing and introduction to your Yasawa Princess experience. This is an informal session where you will meet guests onboard, the dive team and the crew members who will assist you throughout your cruising holiday. It is always pleasant to have a pre-dinner cocktail on the Bar/Restaurant deck and watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean, and is always a social experience.

 

Day Two (Tuesday)

Depart from Male’ Anchorage and anchor at Kuda Bandos (Picnic Island) at North Malé Atoll

Kuda Bandos is an uninhabited picnic island in North Malé Atoll. Morning and afternoon will be spent on the island where you can snorkel off the house reef. Relax and Sunbathe on the white sandy beach that surrounds the island. There are numerous amazing dive sites within reach including a manta ray cleaning station in the summer season. Snorkeling, Sunbathing and relaxing at Kuda Bandos, Picnic island in the morning and in the afternoon. Enjoy the Sundowner of the day while getting to know your cruise mates for the week.

 

Day Three (Wednesday)

Depart from Kuda Bandos and cross the narrow Vaadhoo Channel to South Male’ Atoll

Sexy Beach, beautiful sand bank located in south Male’ Atoll. The reef around this sand bank has beautiful coral and a good fish life for snorkeling or you can simply work on your tan and relax on the beach. Beach Umbrella’s will be placed if it is suitable with the wind conditions. Morning 1000Hrs - 1200Hrs & afternoon 1400Hrs - 1600Hrs Lunch will be served on the boat. Once everyone is back from the beach we will heave the anchor and head close to Maadhoo Finolhu for the night.

 

Day Four (Thursday)

Maadhoo Finolhu Picnic Island. This Fullday excursion will start in the Morning at 1000Hrs and you will return back to the vessel at 1600Hrs. Picnic Lunch Will be served on the island. There is plenty of shade on the island to relax on the beach. This island has a big lagoon, therefore if you a keen snorkeler please request to the GRO, that you want to be dropped off the edge of the reef so that you do not have to swim all the way out or You can join the divers if the dive site is suitable for Snorkelling. Night Fishing from 1730Hrs to 1930Hrs using traditional Hand Lines with baits.

 

Day Five (Friday)

Alimatha Sand bank, located on the Eastern Edge of the Atoll. A big turquoise lagoon surrounds this sand bar and an attractive reef to snorkel. Morning and afternoon will be spend on this sand bank. Lunch will be served on the Island. Sun Umbrellas will be placed for shade if the conditions are favourable. Optional: Night Snorkeling Session on Alimatha Resort House Reef, this excursion has been one of the favourites among our guests. Large Nurse Sharks, Sting Rays & Travallys can be spotted through out this experience

 

Day Six (Saturday)

Short Cruise in the morning to Vashugiri.

 Vashugiri, small picnic island located on the north western side of Vaavu Atoll. Easy access to the reef for snorkelers, Huts and sun loungers are available on the island for the Beach Lovers. Lunch will be served on the vessel.

Evening BBQ, our crew will set up for dinner under the stars on the beach. This is probably one of the favourite and most memorable evenings of our cruise. Our chefs will prepare a Maldivian beach BBQ, with drinks and music, whilst we enjoy the amazing beauty and a spot of stargazing.

 

Day Seven (Sunday)

Early Morning Cross the channel to South Ari Atoll

Oshagali Finolhu, tender will be ready as soon as we reach this sand bank in south ari atoll. Reef Surrounding the sandbank has lot of healthy hard corals, snorkelers love this reef. Afternoon visit the Local island Dhangethi, to get a glipmse of island Life. Night Fishing Excursion will be arranged from 1730 - 1930 Hrs Optional (chargeable): Manta Ray / Whale shark excursion, guests will go out on the dive dhoni in search of this gentle giants. This region in the Maldives has the greatest chance in finding them. Diving

 

Day Eight (Monday)

Early Morning Cruise to Ariadhoo

Ariadhoo, is an agricultural Island with lot of plantation. Guests continuing on the cruise for the second will be going to the island for swimming and sunbathin. One week Guests will dis-embark at this point to Maamagili Airport and take a domestic flight back to Male’ to catch the International Flights

 

Day Nine (Tuesday)

Hurasdhoo, a small deserted island with white sandy beach surrounding the island. Nice House reef for avid snorkeler. Beach Umbrellas will be placed if the conditions are favourable. Lunch will be served on the Island. Night Fishing, Tonight’s fishing trip is targeting reef fish with traditional Hand line bottom fishing techniques. Whilst we encourage the practice of “catch and release” and sustainable fishing practices, we are also happy to help out and take back a fish for dinner.

 

Day Ten (Wednesday)

Raiydhigaa, picnic island with a natural habour. the reef sorrounding the island has an enclosed lagoon with 2 narrow channels for vessels to enter. This island has a long white sandy beach on one end. Snorkelers can easily swim from the beach to deeper water. Picnic Lunch will be prepared by our Chefs. Guests will return to the vessel at 1600Hrs.

 

Day Eleven (Thursday)

Meerufenfushi, deserted island located in the center of ari atoll. The beach streches on one side depending on the monsoon, reef surrounding island is a good site for snorkelers. Morning and afternoon will be spent on the island. Lunch will be preapred on the boat. Late Afternoon crew members will set up the Evening BBQ dinner on the beach, after dinner evening entertainment will begin.

 

Day Twelve (Friday)

Velidhu , a small, comfortable and relaxed holiday resort. an Ideal spot for snorkeling in the magnificent house reef or relaxing on the beach. It has a beachside restaurant and a bar. Buffet Lunch, Spa and other facilities from this resort island can be arranged if booked in advance ( all other services excluding landing fee has to be borne by the guest). Morning and Afternoon visits arranged, Tender will pickup the guests for Lunch.

 

Day Thirteen (Saturday)

Maayafushi Sandbank , a large sand bank located at the northern edge of ari atoll. Flocks of common Seabirds can be found on this sand bar. Reef with lots of nice coral and fish for snorkeling. Sun Umbrellas will be setup if the conditions are favourable for some shade. Night Fishing, Tonight’s fishing trip is targeting reef fish with traditional Hand line bottom fishing techniques. Whilst we encourage the practice of “catch and release” and sustainable fishing practices, we are also happy to help out and take back some fish for dinner.

 

Day Fourteen (Sunday)

Last Swim, for a final swim in the warm indian ocean we will stop at a sand bar on our way back to Male’. the journey from North Ari Atoll to Male’ will take around 4-5 Hrs. Once we reach Male’ our dhoni will be ready to take you to Male’ the capital of Maldives. you can visit the local & Fish market, wander around abit, have an ice cream or do some shopping for souvenirs.

Special Dinner will be served as “Captain’s Dinner”.

 

Day Fifteen (Monday)

The End Of A 2 week Cruise

A nice relaxing breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean before we arrange your departure, whether to the airport or onto another Island/resort. Guests staying onboard for the following cruise can enjoy a day of relaxation, either on Yasawa Princess, or we can arrange an optional excursion (chargeable) to either Kuda Bandos or nearby resort.

EXPLORE BAA & RAA ATOLL OF MALDIVES

Yasawa Princess will be operated in Baa and Raa Atoll from July to December. The main goal of this itinerary is to explore the first area of the Maldives to be declared as a biosphere reserve for its globally significant biodiversity including significant concentrations of whale sharks and manta rays and also a unique diversity of benthic fauna, including rare pink hydrozoan corals (Distichopora nitida), Bryozoans (Bugula) and sea slugs (Tambja olivaria) that are only recorded from Baa atoll. Baa has a particularly high density of the ring-shaped reef forms called faroes, a peculiar reef structure unique to the Maldives, as well as other unique reef forms, and to offer our loyal repeat customers a new experience.

 

DAY 1 (MONDAY)

Anchorage: Dharavandhoo Region

1. Meet & Greet at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport

2. Our Representative at the Airport will assist guests to check-in for the domestic flights to Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo

3. Our Guest Relations Officer will be at the Domestic Arrival Gate to arrange transportation to Yasawa Princess via Dhoni.

4. Welcome Meeting including, Safety, Itinerary and Crew Introduction will be held at 1900Hrs in the evening.

 

DAY 2 (TUESDAY)

Hanifaru Hura, A small uninhabited island located on the Eastern edge of Baa Atoll. The island, the surrounding reef extending to 200m was declared a protected area.

 

Special Features

High biodiversity marine region possessing a unique dynamic water circulation system that during western monsoons, aggregated for feeding (whale sharks and manta rays) and mating (manta rays) in high numbers of endangered mega fauna animals (whale sharks and manta rays). The site is biologically and biodiversity significant for Baa Atoll, Maldives and globally. Nesting sites for green and hawksbill turtle. Occasional roosting site for black-naped tern, lesser noddies and brown noddies. Morning and Afternoon will be spend on this island, A special Snorkeling session will be conducted inside Hanifaru Bay, if there have been resent sightings of Manta Rays and Whale Sharks. If there have been Sightings in Close Proximity, Snorkelers are welcome to join the Dive Dhoni for a snorkeling session on the dive sites. Note: Hanifaru Island and Reef is a regulated area with Patrol Boats and special permits are needed.

 

Dive Sites:

Dharavandhoo Thila

This beautiful coral formation is situated on the south side of Dharavandhoo Island. The top of the reef has a depth of 5 meters. The reef has a sandy slope on one side while big coral blocks, beautiful overhangs and a steep wall connect the other side of the Thila to the main reef of Dharavandhoo. This steep coral wall offers shelter to many kinds of different fish. The sandy side provides a good opportunity to end the dive in the shallow part and see Manta rays during Manta season.

 

Dhonfaru Thila

Consists of a pinnacle which comes to a point and faces into the prevailing current. Starting depth of around 7 meters and has a diameter of 50 meters. This dive site offers overhangs swim troughs with soft corals and abundance of fish life. Especially during the North West monsoon Manta rays can be spotted on this site and with stronger incoming currents eagle rays and sharks can be spotted.

 

DAY 3 (WEDNESDAY)

Mendhoo, uninhabited island within the protected area of mendhoo region. Morning and Afternoon will be spend on the Island. Relax on the beach, or Snorkel around the surrounding Reef. Mendhoo Region was declared protected on 5 June 2011 and the protected area of coverage includes the island of Nibiligaa Island and reef, Mendhoobinmathee Faru and Mendhoo Island and reef and Kaburu Faru.

 

Special Features

• Very high biodiversity and standing population of hard and soft corals and associated marine invertebrates and vertebrates.

• Nesting sites for green and hawksbill turtles.

• Nibiligaa is a key bird roosting and nesting site for Lesser Noddies and Brown Noddies as well as the Black-Naped Tern, Greater Crested Tern.

 

Dive Sites:

Nelivaru Haa

Nelivaru Haa is a unique underwater mountain starting at a depth of 14 meters. This coral formation sits on a sandy bottom at a depth of around 30 meters. Canyons open in a star-like formation from the middle of this structure and overhangs surround the reef. Many hard and soft corals of different colours make their homes here. As we swim around this reef and through the canyons and looking in the overhangs, we may see Stingrays, big Groupers, Bat fish or a school of Sweet Lips. During Manta season, all of Nelivaru Haa becomes a cleaning station. It is a very good place to see them up close and personal while they are being groomed.

 

Dhigali Haa

Is a popular Maldives dive site for scuba enthusiasts looking for a varied balance of spectacular marine life and coral formations. In the past this dive site used to be busy location for shark hunters, and therefore is now a protected marine area. It remains a good location for sharks and other fish; it is not uncommon to find up to 6 grey reef sharks cruising in the depths at any given time. There is also an abundance of fish in Dhigali Haa - you will find all kinds of Maldives marine life, such as: blue-fin jacks, fusilier, blue-striped and humpback snapper, batfish, barracudas, eagle rays, lionfish, angelfish, basslets, trumpet fish, black coral bushes, oyster clams, yellow sea fans, sponges, soft corals, trevally and more.

 

DAY 4 (THURSDAY)

Nibiligaa, a tiny island within Mendhoo Protected Region, A full Day will be spent on the Island. Morning and Afternoon Snorkeling Sessions around the Surrounding Coral Garden. Lunch will be served on the Island.

 

Dive Sites:

Anga Thila

This is a series of Thilas lying between Anga Faru and Dhigu Thila. The five rough blocks rising from the bottom of the atoll are covered with many different soft and hard corals. Divers drift in the mild current while hopping from one Thila to the next. Each Thila offers many overhangs and holes which are the perfect habitat for the variety of fish life, which occurs around these formations.

 

DAY 5 (FRIDAY)

Morning will be spent on Hulhudhoo, Uninhabited Island Snorkel the Surrounding reef and sunbathe. Afternoon visit the Local Island Kendhoo for a bit of local culture

DAY 6 (SATURDAY)

Milaidhoo, uninhabited island Evening Beach BBQ

Dive Sites: Furagas/Giraavaru Corner

 

DAY 7 (SUNDAY)

Visit Reethi Beach, Resort island with a beautiful House reef for Snorkeling, prior permission from the Resort is required for visits. If Reethi Beach is not available the next Uninhabited Island, Hirundhoo will be the alternative for the day.

Dive Sites: Hulhangu Nagu/ Kamadhoo Thila

 

DAY 8 (MONDAY)

Dharavandhoo Region for Change over Day, at least one excursion will be arranged for guests staying over for the second week.

 

DAY 9 (TUESDAY)

Voavah/Bathalaa

Morning and afternoon visits to Voavah/Bathalaa. Both islands are in close proximity and will be chosen depending on the island availability as these 2 islands belongs to a resort.

 

Bathala Region was declared protected on 5 June 2011 and the protected area of coverage includes Bathalaahuraa reef and the islands including the channels and the island of Gaagandufaruhuraa to the north and the island and reef of Vinaneiyfaruhuraa to the

south.

 

Special features

Very high biodiversity, diverse habitat and standing population of hard and soft corals and associated marine invertebrates and

vertebrates.

Nesting sites for green and hawksbill turtles and includes known grouper aggregation spawning sites. Roosting site for black-naped

tern and Includes known grouper aggregation and spawning site.

 

Dive Sites:

Bathalaa kandu

On the northern outside of Vinaneiy Faru, there is a brilliant sight. Lots of pink corals cling from the wall of the vertical channel creating a very nice ambience. The dive starts in the sandy area of Vinaneiyfaruhuraa, and the reef slopes down slowly to a cliff at 18m, where drops off vertically at 25m. All along the wall there are patches of pink coral, black coral and any color of soft coral and black coral. The best part of the dive is on the corner, about 100m away. Sponges sprout from the hard coral wall and lots of gorgonians grow from the bottom. That, with the black coral, makes a unique scenery with almost every possible colour.

 

DAY 10 (WEDNESDAY)

Fullday on Maamunagau/Villingili in Raa Atoll. Both islands are in close proximity and will be chosen depending on the island availability as these 2 islands belongs to a resort. Lunch will be served on the Island

 

Dive Sites: Maamunagau Thila/ Fenfushi Giri

DAY 11 (THURSDAY)

Neyo/Kottefaru, island will be chosen depending on the recent Manta Ray sightings in the region. House Reef/ Outside reef of these islands are famous for its manta rays during the North West Monsoon.

Dive Site:

Kottefaru Thila/Kottefaru Corner

Located inside the atoll from the island kottefaru, a famous dive site in Raa atoll for its soft corals, specially Anemones. With anemones covering most of the reef some diver’s call it “Anemone Thila”. Starting top reef at 8 meters sloping down to 30 meters with overhangs and channels. Schools of Banner fish, Fussiliers and Jacks!

 

DAY 12 (FRIDAY)

Fasgandu Faru (Sand Bank) located near the local island of Innamadhoo in Raa Atoll, Pristine White Sandy Beach to Sunbathe and Relax and easy excess to the reef for snorkelers. Innamaadhoo (Local Island), famous for its boat builders. Guests will visit the boat yards for glimpse of Maldivian Boat Building methods.

 

Dive Site: Vandhoo Wall / Neyo Beyru

Vandhoo Wall, outside reef of Island Vandhoo is famous for its Manta Ray cleaning stations. During the months August to November with the current going out from the atoll manta rays can be spotted all along the wall hovering over coral blocks waiting for their turn to get themselves cleaned by cleaner wrasses.

 

DAY 13 (SATURDAY)

Cruise back to Baa Atoll, and visit Maarikilu/Bathalaa

Dive Site: Fanka Thila/Pink Reef

 

DAY 14 (SUNDAY)

MALDIVES DIVE SITE INFORMATION

 Lankan Manta Point & Okobe Thila

Lankan Manta Point – Outer reef edge of the Atoll, Manta Rays can be spotted during the summer season and Moray’s, Lion Fish, Napoleon Fish, Turtles. Can be spotted throughout the dive.

Okobe Thila – submerged round pinnacle located near Thundufushi Huraa. Beautiful Overhangs and coral life, has a good fishlife.

 

Maafushi Beyru & Kuda Giri (Wreck)

Maafushi Beyru – Outer reef of local island Maafushi, nice and easy wall drift dive, different types of Moray Eels can be spotted, turtles, eagle rays, napoleon wrasse with a bit of luck.

Kuda Giri – small pinnacle with a sunken steel fishing trawler, beautiful coral growth on the wreck, ideal for macro fans.Schools of Fussiliers are seen chased by Giant Travallys and Tuna’s.

 

Guraidhoo Corner & kandooma Thila

Guraidhoo Corner – Channel corner, with current coming into the atoll this dive site offers varieties of larger pelagics, schooling eagle rays, Etc..

kandooma Thila – 300m long underwater pinnacle inside Kandooma channel, thrilling overhangs with soft corals & sharks, Eagle Rays and other Big fish can be spotted on this site.

 

Miyaru kandu & Devana Kandu

Miyaru kandu – Channel Dive, where you cross the channel from one side to the other looking out for larger pelagis like Sharks and Eagle rays passing by.

Devana kandu – Narrow Channel with a reef in the middle. Ideal for Big Fis, like sharks, Napoleon and Eagle Rays. Turles can also be on the shallower part of the dive.

 

Kunaavasi kandu & Bodu Kandu

Kunaavasi kandu – Channel Dive, for Bigger fish. Beutiful Coral and Schooling fish can be found on the submerged pinnacle in the middle of the channel. Family of Napoleons lives here.

Bodu Kandu – wide Channel with a submerged reef in the middle. Ideal for Big Fis, like sharks, Napoleon and Eagle Rays. Turles can also be on the shallower part of the dive.

 

Kuda Rah Thila & Hudhu Thila

Kuda Rah Thila – Protected dive site, small pinnacle starting top reef at around 16m with soft corals and overhangs. Thousands of Blue Stripped Snappers can be found at the top of this reef.

Hudhu Thila – Like any pinnacle inside Dhigurah channel, this pinnacle offers variety of small and large fish.

 

Angaga Thila & Aiyabe Thila

Angaga Thila – Small pinnacle with a top reef of 6-8 Meters. Turtles feed the corals on the top reef while sharks cruises in the current. Can circle around the pinnacle.

Aiyabe Thila – 100m Long Pinnacle, we only dive one side of this pinnacle, a large overhang covers the egde of the reef with beautiful hard and soft corals. Sharks can be spotted if there is a drift.

 

Dega Thila & Miyaru Gaa Thila

Dega Thila – A Macro fans dream, 2 coral formations seperated from the main reef is full with soft corals and schooling fish. Leaf Fishes & Ghost Pipe fishes can be spotted with some luck.

Miyaru Gaa Thila – Small pinnacle with a top reef of 5-6 meters, ideal to dive slow looking for octopuses, scorpion and lionfish. Sharks and Sting rays can be found resting on the bottom.

 

Fish Head & Alikoi Faru

Fish Head – Small Pinnacle which can be navigated around depending on the currents. Overhangs can be found around the site with soft corals. Turtles, Giant Travallys, Sharks and rays can be spotted on this site. Alikoi Faru - Easy dive along a long reef with well grown hard corals, lobsters can be found inside crevices.

 

Hafza Thila / Vissaara Dhuni / Maaya Thila (Night Dive)

Hafza Thila – Submerged round pinnacle . Famous for its Grey Reef sharks, and abundance of fish Life.

Vissaara Dhuni – Submerged pinnacle right next to a long reef located 10mins from Velidhu . Good Fish and Coral Life. Maaya Thila - one of the most famous night dive site in the Maldives, Sharks and sting rays hunt at this site at night.

 

Maaya Thila / Bathalaa Maaga Kan

Maaya Thila - one of the most famous night dive site in the Maldives, Sharks and sting rays hunt at this site at night.

Bathala Maagaa Kan - an extension of the reef sloping down inside a channel, with large pelagics crossing the channel.
